LUCENT Project
Low-power corona pulse generator
“Corona” generators provide a high sinusoidal output voltage, applied between an electrode and a roller with a dielectric coating connected to ground, over which the film flows.
The voltage applied to the electrode is such as to generate the so-called “corona effect” between the electrode and the roller.
To obtain a uniform “corona” discharge along the entire length of the electrode, a minimum power is required, but this low power can over-treat the film making it unsuitable for further processing.
This project solves the problem by powering the discharge electrode not in a “continuous” manner but with “voltage packets” that guarantee uniform discharge with variable duty cycle and frequency.
